Mission
The mission of adult education and family literacy is to ensure that all adults who live in Texas have the skills necessary to function effectively in their personal lives, in the workplace, and in the community.
ESC-20 Adult Education
The ESC-20 Adult Education Program was developed in the late 1970s to help adult learners build a strong foundation of academic skills so that they may fulfill their role as a worker, parent, and citizen/commnity member. Our instructors, teacher aides and supervisors have made a commitment to provide adult learners with the tools to achieve their goals and open a world of opportunities for success in their life.
Our service area includes nine counties: Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar (excluding Northside ISD, North East ISD, San Antonio ISD), Frio, Gillespie, La Salle, Karnes, Kerr andWilson. Each year over 2,000 students enroll in our free of charge English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language (EL), Civics and General Educational Development (GED) classes. There are over 60 different daytime, afternoon and evening classes offered throughout the year at various instructional sites.
