Project GREAT Centers were created to train teachers and administrators in order improve the quality of instruction to the adult learners. The eight GREAT Centers are regional professional development and teacher training centers that are linked through a central literacy clearinghouse and resource center. Through collaborative planning with the adult education administrators and teachers, Project GREAT Centers ensure that all regional training is customized to meet the needs of the programs in those particular regions in addition to leading programs on the development of statewide content standards, best practices, and credentials of adult education instructors.
The Education Service Center, Region 20 adopted the online iLearning Management System as a resource to aide in the enrollment of professional development sessions for the clients and customers within the service area it supports. This system tracks and maintains a complete history of iLearning based training taken by users, including the ability to view transcripts and print certificates. It develops and delivers on-line training and produces activity reports of each user. All In-Service Professional Development attained by the Office of Adult Education staff must be communicated through the iLearning Management System. Staff must register using a user name and password.
