Career Investigation / Career Connection CTE Teacher Endorsement Training
Career Orientation Endorsement Training is provided by TEA to endorse current CTE certified teachers to teach Career Investigation (grade 7-8) or Career Connections (grades 9-10) courses.
Career Investigation/Career Connections courses are designed to provide students with the ability to make informed decisions concerning the world of work and how it relates to the world of learning. In these courses students will compile a portfolio of their work, take assessments to better guide them in their career development, investigate 16 different career clusters, complete their high school graduation plan focusing on their post-secondary goals, discover the job-hunting process, and learn how to succeed at work.
Participating teachers in this workshop who are currently teaching these courses, and other SBEC certified CTE teachers who are interested in teaching these courses, will receive updated information about today's labor market and new lesson plans they can use in their classrooms.
Along with the specialized training, each participant will receive (at their district after successful completion of the training) TEKS aligned curriculum and supporting teacher materials, including videos and software and classroom sets of materials.
Only SBEC certified CTE teachers are eligible for this endorsement to teach the Career Investigation and Career Connection Course. Teachers must bring a letter with them to the training, signed by their principal or CTE Director, stating they will be teaching CI or CC in order to have the resource materials mailed to them.
Workshop offered annually in late August for new and veteran CTE teachers.
