Although
a campus has worked to improve school-wide climate and classroom management, a
small number of students may continue to exhibit severe, chronic, inappropriate
behaviors. These students may benefit from specialized individual student
interventions that target their specific behaviors and change the patterns of
disruptive behavior. Visit iLearning, our Learning
Management System and online catalog, to view and register for staff
development opportunities in the area of individual student interventions:
Severe Behavior De-escalation
Interventions
The workshop focuses on preventing acting-out behavior in the classroom.
Participants learn skills to develop a classroom management system that
provides structure for students, especially those with emotional and behavioral
problems. Participants will learn the behavior cycle and interventions to use
at each level.
Nonviolent
Crisis Intervention (CPI)
This interactive workshop will teach participants struggling with student
behavior and discipline issues ways to de-escalate students before a crisis
occurs. Participants will learn warning signs and verbal diffusion techniques
for dealing with the most difficult student behaviors. Participants who
demonstrate required competency in this two-day workshop will be certified by
the National Crisis Prevention Institute. Given the interactive nature of this
workshop, participants are encouraged to dress comfortably.
