Educating our children, elevating their level of achievement, and preparing them for post-secondary education and opportunities in the workplace is a challenging task. Many campuses and school districts need assistance to achieve these goals. The Texas Statewide System of School Support has been developed for use by all Texas campuses but especially for Title I districts and campuses.
A system of school support is required by statute PL107-110: Section 1117 (No Child Left Behind Act). In Texas the entities most ready to provide professional development and technical assistance are the Education Service Centers (ESCs), School Improvement Resource Center (SIRC), and Title 1 Statewide School Support/Parent Involvement Initiative (TISSS/PII). All of these organizations are working together under the direction of the Division of NCLB Program Coordination at TEA to provide effective school support. The Texas Comprehensive Center located at SEDL has resources to support ESCs, SIRC, and TISSS/PII as they provide professional development and technical assistance to campuses seeking to improve their academic achievement.
