PATH: Post-Secondary Awareness to Higher Education
Untitled Document
In 2006, realizing that adult learners needed assistance with identifying a pathway and eliminating barriers encountered between adult education and post-secondary opportunities, the Postsecondary Awareness: Transition to Higher Education (PATH) Committee was formed. This committee consists of adult, correctional, community college, and workforce educators and administrators whose primary goal is the development of an educated and skilled workforce within the South Texas area. The primary mission of the PATH committee is to share resources and ideas that will help create a seamless network of services for adult learners wanting to enhance their quality of life.
The Texas Workforce Investment Council's “A First Look at Adult Education in Texas,” published in 2003, recommends that in order to meet the varied needs of Texas’ adult population, joint collaboration between Texas LEARNS, Texas Workforce Commission, and The Texas Higher Education Coordination Board and its local programs is necessary. Guided by this study’s recommendations, the PATH committee was formed in order to seek a systematic, lasting effort that utilizes each program’s resources to address the many needs of adult learners as they transition from adult education programs to post-secondary education or the workplace.

PATH Blog
We have some very exciting news for everyone who wants our students to get into college! Are you ready to share your ideas, learn from others, and be “in-the-know” on state and local initiatives to help our students?
Then please join the brand new Postsecondary Awareness: Transition to Higher Education (PATH) Committee blog. This committee consists of adult, correctional, community college, and workforce educators and administrators whose primary goal is the development of an educated and skilled workforce within the South Texas area. We have been working together since 2006, and this year we want our message and efforts to reach more than the committee members. “A blog is a web site, where you write stuff on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what's new. Then they comment on it or link to it or email you.”- Blogger Help. Our goal for this blog is to spark conversation and cultivate relationships between adult education, community college, and workforce partners. The format will be informative, followed by a question on the topic and your answers/comments.
You can read it from any computer, and we encourage everyone to leave their comments on the issues at hand – we want to hear your perspective and learn from each other.
