Congratulations to the following grant recipients!

Floresville Independent School District
Higgs, Carter, King, Gifted & Talented Charter Academy
Judson Independent School District

Grant recipients will receive equipment and training needed to start a Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP).  The purpose of the Cisco Certified Networking Academy (CCNA) grant was to provide districts and/or schools with an opportunity to receive equipment and training needed to start a CCNA program at their district or school location.

This training can receive technology credit.  It is designed for delivery to 11th and 12th grade students.  In addition, dual credit is possible for students who continue their education by attending one of the local community colleges.

ESC-20 is a Regional Cisco Network Academy.  As such, we provide a train-the-trainer program that allows us to train high school and college instructors to teach the Cisco Networking Academy Program (CNAP) to students in preparation for their readiness to receive certifications.  The Networking Academy delivers Web-based content, online assessment, student performance tracking, hands-on labs, instructor training, support and preparation for industry standard certifications.

Schools may choose between Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Discovery or CCNA Exploration curriculum.

CCNA Discovery
The Cisco CCNA Discovery curriculum provides foundational networking knowledge, practical experience, opportunities for career exploration and soft-skill development to help students prepare for entry-level careers in Information Technology and networking. The curriculum offers a hands-on approach to learning and uses interactive tools and easy-to-follow labs to help students learn the general theory needed to build networks. Students who enroll in CCNA Discovery are not expected to have any previous technical skills or knowledge, aside from basic PC skills.

CCNA Exploration
The Cisco CCNA Exploration curriculum provides a comprehensive overview of networking; from fundamentals to advanced applications and services. This course emphasizes theoretical concepts and practical application, while providing opportunities for students to gain the skills and hands-on experience needed to design, install, operate and maintain networks in small-to-medium businesses, as well as enterprise and service provider environments. CCNA Exploration offers in depth theory, challenging labs and a detailed overview of protocol operations. It is designed for students with advanced problem-solving and analytical skills. CCNA Exploration was designed to be integrated into technology curriculum.

The curriculum prepares students for the Cisco Certified entry Networking Technician Certification (CCENT) and the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) examinations.
